Intentions and eating with a purpose.

I feel like my life has propelled me to Doe Bay for a reason... not only to bring the "food revolution" to one small restaurant on a itty bitty corner of a tiny green island, but to teach me something. There is a lesson here to learn, and I think I've found it - and it's only taken 9 months!

I'm here to find my voice, and its not like the voice of the guy on Hell's Kitchen, or of some loud, stereotypical Chef either, it is a sweet song, kind of quite but sure of itself. Melodic and idealistic, uncompromising and true. This is what I bring to the world, the world of food specifically.

Finding your voice as a Chef is a difficult task, and following the "rules" to create one of the Mother Sauces is just a piece of the puzzle. Like a musician learning to play an instrument note by note before improvising or being a part of a jam session.

So now that I'm composing my own art in my own menus, I feel like Leonard Cohen singing "Bird on a Wire" and always plunging forward doing better than my best on a regular basis.

God/dess of food: I'm glad to be of service.

In gratitude,

DB fest is here!

July 19th 11am until 10pm, Doe Bay will turn into a mini Woodstock!

There are so many different bands playing, and it is only $40 to get into the entire event! All door money goes to the bands themselves, and food is being sold by Soul Flour Bakery and also from us here at the Doe Bay Cafe!

Come celebrate summer in our beer garden, and enjoy some of Seattle's finest bands! Read more about it > >

See you at the Fest!
