Dear Friends of Doe Bay,

The Barefoot Burglar Barely Escapes Capture at Doe Bay

"Barefoot" designation was a half-truth!

On Wednesday March 31, 2010, as midnight approached all was quiet at Doe Bay. The camp fire was reduced to ashes and the yoga mats were all in their place. As the clock struck midnight, all hell broke loose. Someone had breached the interior of the Doe Bay secure area, known as the inner sanctum. Who could it be? Who else?

Following his well-established modus operandi, Harris-Moore, obviously still angry about having a hyphenated name, climbed to the second story in an attempt to surreptitiously enter the premises. He quickly realized that there were no windows and he was on the roof. Returning to the ground, he tried the front door and found it unlocked. As always, after drinking a glass of soy milk and making himself a meatless sandwich, he immediately disarmed the security cameras, but this time he was a little too late. A photo had been taken and sent to a secure location in Colorado.

Actual Photo of Suspect Feet

The Doe Bay Sheriff's office released photos from the Doe Bay Security system taken the night of the intrusion. Sheriff's spokesman, Barnard Fife, pointed out that previous break-ins yielded only footprints which seemed to be drawn by the boy burglar, himself. At Doe Bay, we came a step closer with an actual photo. This picture answers some questions but raises others. Why is the right foot fully clothed, while the left foot is bare? Perhaps, Colton is exercising his options under the Doe Bay clothing policy. The Doe Bay Sheriff was immediately accused of practicing "Catch and Release" Law enforcement, consistent with our general prejudice in favor of Anarchy!

Doe Bay Name Formally Changed to Joe Bay

(Old Clothing Discounted)

After threatening for years, Doe Bay Owner, Joe, announced today that the name of Doe Bay Resort & Retreat was being changed to the shorter and easier to remember, Joe Bay. The staff was immediately dispatched to cover the island and ferries with white out bottles in hand. General Manager Pliny Keep said, "the change was easy because of the similarities between the letter D and the letter J." It is that "can do" attitude that permeates the team at Joe Bay.

Joe Bay Cafe "Front of the House Manager", Freddy, shows the old and the new by wearing a Doe Bay t-shirt (now found on the Sale table in the Doe Bay store) in front of the new Joe Bay sign!

Weddings at Doe Bay

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Why get married at Doe Bay?
  • In fact, why get married at all?

These are questions that we get all the time and frankly we don't have a good answer. If you are already living together, you basically are getting all the benefits without any of the strings attached. The only real persuasive argument in favor of marriage is that your Mother will stop with all the guilt trips. It should be noted that Doe Bay Resort is the only wedding location which offers a money back guaranty. We can host weddings for as little as $12,000., inclusive of everything, and for as much as $30,000.00.

Dine and dance under a tent and be wed by the water under the afternoon sun or the evening stars!

For Insurance Purposes, we have been required to post these signs throughout the property. (Vote YES on Tort Reform!)

Doe rides, as shown above have been canceled until further notice. (Thanks PETA!)

We are sorry to say that we had to return all the Doe Bay animals shown above to the Orcas Island Zoo.

Doe Bay Welcomes

Sarah Palin & the Tea Party

At Doe Bay, we love a party, so we are thrilled to announce that Sarah Palin has agreed to address her loyal fans at The Tea Party Convention slated for the 4th of July weekend at Doe Bay Resort & Retreat. Through a spokesman, Mrs. Palin said that, "Doe Bay is not really on the world map yet, but I am willing to come here because, if I win next time, I will be living in Washington for 4 years."

Her announcement included the first indication that she is considering another run for higher office. When asked directly about it, she handed this reporter the photo below and said, "If I really want to be the leader of the free world, I know that I need to sharpen my international credentials and being at Doe Bay accomplishes that. When Senator John McCain and I campaigned at Doe Bay last year, the senator pointed out to me that you can see Canada from Doe Bay." Lip readers immediately began blogging that Governor Palin's husband Todd was whispering, "I think that is actually Blakely Island, honey."

Easter Week at Doe Bay - April 1st to April 9th

Kids stay and EAT free

No Minimum Stay required - Call NOW

Won't it be great to have a little extra time with your kids over Spring Break. You could take your kids to see Avatar again and then spend way too much eating factory produced food at a restaurant that has Factory in the name. Or you could come up to Doe Bay and teach them that we used to not have cell phones or 250 channels on cable. We have several special events planned for families along with the regular options of spa visits, massage and yoga. We will have kid-friendly yoga classes, special cafe meals. Call Jami (360) 376-2291 at the Front desk for details, options and reservations.

Labor Dispute Settled

Doe Bay Staff Replaced in Late Night Coup

The New Regime Takes Over Doe Bay!

Next week, in a move reminiscent of the Ronald "the Gipper" Reagan's gutsy firing of all the air traffic controllers, Doe Bay Ownership plans to settle years of labor strife by a surprise tactic of summarily dismissing the entire staff and replacing them with employees who look shockingly like the 2004 staff. The more things change, the more they stay the same!

Music at Doe Bay

A young Paul McCartney plays his first gig at Doe Bay in 1959. His mother, reflecting the prevalent prejudices against the handicapped in those days, forced young Paul to play right handed. He later switched, acknowledging his left-handedness and went on to play professional cricket for the Liverpool Cricket Club. (No relation to Bass player for the Beatles.)

Volunteers Replaced at the Doe Bay Garden

Mechanized Farming Takes Hold at Doe Bay

Doe Bay is attempting to use heavy equipment and robots to mechanize all aspects of organic farming and eliminate having to deal with gardeners. Until that program is complete, Doe Bay will continue to host WWOOF volunteers all year round to work in our organic garden, learning organic gardening techniques and to participate in our Seed-to-Table program where what we grow in the Doe Bay Garden is what we all eat in the Doe Bay Cafe. Our WWOOF guests live at Doe Bay and get free room and board in exchange for their efforts. The program has been a huge success. If you are interested, please write to Heather, the Doe Bay Garden Manager.

How to get to Doe Bay

Take the Foot Ferry to Doe Bay!

Getting to Doe Bay can be half the fun. Consider the foot ferry from Island Express, directly to our beach. Call us for details.

Another option is flying on Kenmore Air out of Seattle.

The ferry schedule includes fewer sailings in the Winter and Spring, but they are almost never full, so come on up!

If possible, come for an extra day. I promise the extra day is always the best!
