Doe Bay Fest is Just Days Away
The festival this year will be such
a big deal that it is hard not to feature it in the newsletter.
I will say just 3 things:
1.) MORE INFORMATION -
You can find out a bit more, including schedules and band information
and by going to DoeBayFest.com.
2.) SOLD OUT (except Volunteers)
Doe Bay Fest sold out in ten days in early May. Thank you
to all who are coming and I apologize to those who have been calling
and for whom we have no space. If you are anxious to come to the
festival and are responsible (and can prove it) and would like to
volunteer, there may be a couple volunteer openings. Please e-mail
me.
3.) THE LAST CABIN &
TICKETS - We have held one cabin package for all the loyal
readers of this newsletter (Actually, we got it through a fluke
cancellation.) It is Cypress,
which is the best cabin on the property and sleeps six people in
three bedrooms and possibly two more on a futon. The package includes
the cabin for Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Sunday checkout.
(We will throw in Wednesday night as well, if you want to get a
jump on things.) It includes the last 6 tickets to the festival
and 6 Doe Bay Fest T-shirts. The price is $1200. which is only $400
per couple... for music, shelter and clothing! Please write to Joe@DoeBay.com
if you would like this last minute special.
One more thing - Did you read the
quote at the top of the newsletter? I try to find a timely quote
for each newsletter and, since we are putting on a rock festival
this week, that was my subject of choice. I don't want to offend
any Catholics since I am one, but is that quote whack or what?

Life After
Doe Bay Fest
Just One Week later on Friday Aug
20th @ 6pm
Doe Bay Cafe will host Carolyn Cruso
on the patio with HAPPY HOUR Cocktails from 5 to 7pm.
For two decades Carolyn Cruso has been making a name for herself
as a multi-instrumentalist, writing and performing adventurous and
lyrical pieces on the hammered dulcimer and various flutes. More
recently she expanded her musical attention to the singer/songwriting
genre and has been delighting audiences around the nation ever since
with her expressive voice, elegant melodies, fine guitar playing
and poetic lyrics. As a performer Cruso weaves a web with a myriad
of instruments, diverse styles, subtle nuances and vivid images.
Seattles Victory Music describes her music as "a hypnotic and
alluring blend of folk, pop and jazz." This west coast tour
finds Cruso celebrating the release of her new songwriter CD, Have
You Ever which people are lauding as sophisticated, intimate, rich
and intelligent. Visit her web site at www.carolyncruso.com

Can you figure out the angle of this photograph?

If you aren't coming to the Doe

Doe Bay gets
an ATM

Ok... this is not a photo of our
ATM, but it is similar. Since I was just in Russia, this photo of
a Russian ATM with the message "Your Windows Version must be
activated in 7 days. Do you want to activate now?" was amusing
to me. It was not as amusing as the ATM Priceless image (you can
google it), but that one was also tasteless, even for my extremely
low standards.
This new money printing machine
is located in the Doe Bay Cafe and we hope you find it useful.
I will be in Doe Bay most of August
so please introduce yourself. Thanks for reading and, as always,
please send me your thoughts!

Thanks Again for Saying Thanks!
As I said in last month's letter, this wasn't supposed to be a regular
column but, since owning Doe Bay is still an expensive hobby, I
must say the nice things we hear are worth the price of admission!
I received the following nice e-mail:
Dear Friend
at Doe Bay,
Thank you all for a wonderful time at Doe Bay, one of our very favorite
places and an annual tradition for us. Our time there is always
so enjoyable but this year we certainly "lucked out"!
We made our reservations for this week at Orca Yurt back in March
(I think) not knowing that we would also be treated to Shakespeare
and Sea Collective during that time. Plus we cut ten degrees off
of the Seattle heat wave. Talk about perfect timing!
Thanks again and see you next year (if not sooner!)
