Planning Your Trip

Whe should I come to Doe Bay?
Any time! All the time! When to come depends on what you're looking for.

Our busiest time is Memorial Day through Labor Day and it's always a good idea to reserve as far in advance as possible for that period. (Actually, advance reservations will generally get you the best deals for everything on-island.)

If you're here for Mountain Biking, though we've got it year-round on the island, the best time is actually between September 15 and May 15 as there are many extra trails open in Moran State Park.

If you're looking for dramatic storm-watching from your cabin or the tubs/sauna, then you'll want to come in December or January.

If you're looking for special events to host or attend, you'll want to check our calendar.

How long should I stay?
A couple of days is what we recommend as the minimum to have a real Doe Bay benefit. Since you'll spend some time getting here, we always recommend having at least one day that you can both wake up and go to sleep here on the outer coast of Orcas.

We're always happy to make last-minute one-night reservations a day in advance if you're only able to get away for that long (one night's better than none, eh?). If you're staying a week or more, as many of our guests do to work on their latest professional projects or personal psyches, then you're eligible for a special discount.

Come for as long as you can! Come back often!

How do I get there?
Depending on your budget and preference, there are several options for traveling to the Resort. You can travel by car via the State Ferry, airplane, seaplane, or water taxi without your car. Any of these modes of transportation are most enjoyable Northwest experiences.
What do I bring?

The resort has most everything you’ll need (unless you are tent camping). The yurts and domes have beds and linens provided. You may want to bring additional towels for the spa and beach, and a flashlight for night walks. There is a small general store and a café for the best cuisine and espresso.

You may want to bring your book or go to our reading room in Otter Lodge and select one from the shelf. If you like to sit around the campfire and eat s’mores you may want to consider bringing marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers! There are coffee makers in the cabins but you will need to bring your own grind to brew. Other than that, simply bring your soul and heart for rejuvenation.
